One of HOMER's earliest collaborators. Spiritual teacher, ethnomusicologist, and sound-healing pioneer Dr. Mira Omerzel — Mirit — led retreats at the Center from the very beginning. Her son Tine Omerzel Terlep continues the Veduna Katedra's work today.
One of our very first collaborators was the Veduna Katedra, led by the late Dr. Mira Omerzel — Mirit — a respected ethnologist, musician, educator, and energy healer from Slovenia. Her retreats and teachings brought a unique spiritual depth to the beginning of our work and helped shape the vision of the HOMER Center.
Mirit regularly held retreats and workshops at Lotus Resort from the very beginning of our holistic activities in 2021, returning each spring and autumn with her students and community. She dedicated her life to exploring consciousness, natural healing, music, and ancient wisdom traditions. Her presence left a lasting mark on the spirit of the resort and its community.
In autumn 2024 she peacefully passed on, leaving behind a rich legacy of knowledge and inspiration. Today her son Tine continues her work, and the Veduna Katedra remains active through retreats, workshops, and educational programs — including at Lotus Resort and the HOMER Center.
## More about Mira Omerzel — Mirit
Mirit was an ethnologist, doctor of musicology, ethnomusicologist, spiritual teacher, musician, sound therapist, and independent researcher internationally recognised for her pioneering work in the fields of sound, consciousness, and spiritual heritage. She is the founder of the ensembles Trutamora Slovenica and Vedun, as well as the Veduna School for Consciousness Development and Harmonization through Sound.
For more than four decades, Mirit explored the relationship between sound, human consciousness, healing, and ancient wisdom traditions. Her work bridges ethnomusicology, spirituality, meditation, and the study of sacred sound traditions from cultures around the world. Throughout her life she studied and collaborated with shamans, healers, sages, priest-musicians, and spiritual teachers across many continents — including Native American, Tibetan, Siberian, Balinese, Hawaiian, and Slavic traditions.
As a researcher and author she published numerous ethnomusicological studies and extensive spiritual writings, including the multi-volume series *Cosmic Telepathy — Wisdom Beyond Thought* and *Audible Sound of the Past for the Future*. Her work focused on the transformative power of sound, the spiritual dimensions of music, and the preservation of ancient cultural and musical heritage.
Mirit's artistic and educational activities were deeply rooted in the wisdom of traditional cultures while also addressing the spiritual needs of contemporary humanity. Through lectures, seminars, workshops, meditative sound practices, and musical performances, she guided participants in processes of self-awareness, inner balance, consciousness expansion, and holistic wellbeing.
Her ensembles performed internationally for decades as ambassadors of Slovenian cultural heritage, bringing ancient and meditative musical traditions to audiences worldwide. She is the author of over 25 books and more than 50 research papers.
